Corn Field's Story

Corn Field is a precious 23-pound mixed-breed boy who has already been through more than any dog should have to endure. He spent over a week and a half on the run in a local community living in a corn field (hence the name), terrified and injured, with no one knowing where he came from or who he belonged to. He wasn't using one of his legs, and understandably, he was extremely frightened. Thankfully, our staff was able to safely trap Corn Field using a humane dog trap and finally get him the help he desperately needed. His leg was badly broken and, unfortunately, it was too damaged to save, so it had to be amputated. Corn Field is still very scared, but he has started to come around a little. He is learning that people can be kind and that he is safe now. He is also beginning to learn about walking on a leash, although he is still very much a work in progress. Because of his past, Corn Field needs a patient, understanding family who will give him the time and space he needs to build trust. He isn't going to be the dog who immediately runs up and asks for belly rubs. His family will need to let him come out of his shell at his own pace and celebrate those little moments when he realizes he is safe.

Corn Field will also need a SECURE fenced backyard or another extremely secure way to contain him outside. He must be monitored at all times when he is outside. After everything he went through while on the run, we absolutely do not want to risk him getting loose again.

This sweet boy has already fought so hard. Now he needs someone willing to show him that his life can be so much more than being scared and alone. He deserves a safe home, a patient family, and the chance to finally know what it feels like to be loved. Corn Field may need time, but we know he is worth it!
