Corky's Story
A060491 Corky; neutered Chihuahua mix; est. 9 months; 17.8 lbs
Contact: Calaveras County Animal Services
(209)754-6509
Website: https://animal.calaverasgov.us/
Email: animal@calaverascounty.gov

We have a darling, pint-sized young lad who's bound to make some lucky family very happy—we'd guess in short order. We are calling him Corky, though we'd understand if you wanted to change his name to Spot, due to the charming single black spot featured prominently on his back.

In addition to general cuteness, Corky is a sweet and sensitive little dude. He was pretty scared and shut down when he first arrived. Our dog whisperers took great care with him, reassuring him that he was safe and loved in spite of finding himself in the noisy, chaotic shelter. He remains initially reserved with new people, but then warms up and is sweetly friendly and affectionate.

While he is a little hesitant when meeting new dogs, as well, size differences don't seem to particularly bother him. Once he feels safe, he makes friends well, regardless of size discrepancies. We'd guess he'd do great with a compatible dog sibling or two.

Cory loves to go on walks and is pleasant on leash, sniffing all the lush grass.. He does like treats and at his young age will probably be fun to train. If you've been waiting for the perfect, diminutive lap warmer to come along, Corky just might fill that 'spot' perfectly.

He keeps his inner kennel tidy, using the outside kennel for potty time. Though we can't make guarantees, that's a good sign.

We do not have info on his attitude toward cats at this time.

As always, a meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
