Meet Cooper — a smart, playful and incredibly resilient Shepherd/Lab mix looking for his forever home!<br/><br/>Cooper is approximately eight months old and weighs about 50 pounds. He is a very good boy who is friendly with other dogs and children. He is intelligent, playful and ready to enjoy all the love and fun he missed during the beginning of his life.<br/><br/>Cooper, formerly known as Bowser, was only a young puppy when he landed on the euthanasia list after spending approximately 45 days at the shelter. When our rescue committed to saving him, we did not know that he had suffered multiple fractures throughout his body.<br/><br/>By the time we learned the extent of his injuries, several fractures had already begun healing. However, damage to a growth plate was causing one of his front legs to develop abnormally. Without treatment, Cooper faced increasing deformity, pain and limited mobility.<br/><br/>Our rescue brought Cooper to VCA Animal Specialty & Emergency Center in Los Angeles, where he underwent an ulna osteotomy performed by board-certified veterinary surgeon Raviv Balfour, DVM, Diplomate ACVS.<br/><br/>Cooper’s follow-up X-rays show that he is healing very well. He will continue receiving orthopedic monitoring and additional X-rays until he receives his final medical clearance. His prognosis is very good, and he has been given the opportunity to enjoy the happy, active life every puppy deserves.<br/><br/>Cooper is neutered and currently living in foster care. Despite everything he has endured, he remains a friendly, playful and loving young dog. He enjoys the company of other dogs, does well with children and would love a family that will continue showing him how wonderful life can be.<br/><br/>Cooper survived the shelter, multiple injuries and major orthopedic surgery.
