Cooper's Story
Cooper is a happy, healthy 3 yo boy now, but definitely was NOT before we stepped in. Here is some history from when we first got Coop:Cooper is a rescue in the true sense of the word. He was removed from a home in Sussex County by Animal Control for abuse. He was found starved and skeletal (see picture w/blue leash). He was discovered weighing just 45 lbs, a shell of what his stature commanded. But now at a healthy 65 lbs he has learned that there are good humans, and he is like a new boy, enjoying his fosters, and even has a BFF who meows! Even after all of this, Cooper remained gentle and loving. How can you NOT love this boy!? That was last year. Coop was adopted out in March 2022 and his new family adores him. All except for his new brother... It's an odd thing, because the play together all the time and get along great....until they don't. A signal seems to pass between them (when they are NOT playing) - a look, a vibe, and suddenly they are fighting. And someone gets can easily get hurt. Something similar also happened with a dog being walked by the house as well. It only happens every few months, but his owners reluctantly realized they need to make a change. This is from his current owner:"We have had 6 dogs, and he is the BEST family dog we have had. Loves people, loves attention, loves hugs, snuggles all the time. You can squeeze him, pull on him, pick him up, and do anything and he will not complain. If you are pulling on him and he has discomfort he will make a sound, (his reaction with people is loving, and NEVER EVER EVER aggressive). He actually plays very well with other dogs, and loves being around other dogs. If however, he is with a pet that makes an aggressive growl or overture, he is triggered. We have 2 other dogs - one is older and they have never had a problem. Every once in a while with the other one that he plays with, they get into fights. Its never when they are playing. Its random when they are close together (which they are all the time, they even sleep next to each other), but every once in a while the other dog gives off a vibe, and it triggers him and they fight. You can almost tell its about to happen. The only other common denominator is my wife is usually close by. I have always been around to pull them apart when I hear them fight... I am not sure how easy it would be for one person to pull them apart. Even though their fights are months apart, we dont think the dynamics between these dogs will change. That said, even though he has never had a problem with the older dog (even when the older dog tries to intervene or calm him down after a tussle), we suggest he only be homed in a house without (dogs). " So we have a happy, healthy, sweetheart of a snuggle boy who needs a home with no other dogs for now, to err on the side of caution. When he was younger, his best bud was a cat, so that could certainly be tested now. He is housebroken, vaccinated, good on a leash, knows some commands, is neutered, doesnt even drool, and is a PRO snuggler who only wants to be with you on the couch. His owners are heartbroken and will be happy to help in any way possible. He's gone through a lot in his young life - let's give Coop a new lease!
