Meet Cooper
Cooper is a survivor of distemper. Most dogs do not survive this and those that do often have neurological issues that effect mobility. This 1 1/2 to 2 year old male golden retriever learned how to scoot around a home when out of his wheelchair and gets around just fine when in his wheelchair.
Cooper is housebroken and will whine or bark when he needs out to go potty and waits for you to get him into his wheelchair.
He has been fitted with a customized wheelchair as three of his legs are not useful for helping him get around. The fourth leg helps move himself in the wheel chair and by scooting when out of the chair.
Cooper is on the petite side and only weighs 35 to 40 pounds. He is also great with other dogs.
Cooper has been to a specialist, had acupuncture treatment, and water therapy. Cooper is not going to regain the function of his legs, but this certainly doesn't keep him from being a happy boy.
Cooper has been in Canada for quite awhile with a foster family and is now ready to move to a new home in the states. We are helping to find this boy a wonderful forever family where he can receive the love and attention he deserves and loves getting. Please contact us if you are wanting to hear more about Cooper. The first step to adopt Cooper is to read our adoption policies on our website at www.gr-rescue.org and follow the directions from there if you qualify.
