Cooper's Story
Cooper Update - June 2026

Dear Cooper has made good progress in the short time he’s been in our care. He is a 9 year old Chihuahua. His foster mom tells us Cooper is a wonderful little companion.

He came to us from the Windsor Humane Society. It was his second time ending up in the shelter after being adopted only a few years earlier. At the shelter they found a mass in his mouth and knew he would be better in a foster based rescue.

Cooper has had his dentistry and the mass was removed and biopsied. We were pleased to learn it is a benign tumour. There is a chance the tumour can grow back but he’s doing well at this time and has made a good recovery.

We feel Cooper is best in a calm, quiet, adult home. He loves to spend time in the garden so a house with a detached fully fenced yard is recommended. Cooper is used to having someone with him during the day and would not do well being left alone for long hours everyday. He is housetrained and well mannered in the house. He will bark a bit when someone comes to the door.

His foster mom tells us that he is a very loving dog. He is friendly towards people they meet on their walks. He sleeps and eats without a fuss. He also loves to sing along when she plays the piano.

Cooper is best as the only dog. We are not sure how he would be sharing his home with a cat.

Cooper loves to go for walks. His foster mom walks him several times a day. He barks at other dogs on leash but because he is small it is easy to maneuver him away.

Cooper is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations. He weighs 5.7 kgs (12lbs). He is negative for heartworm and tick borne diseases. He has some arthritis in his right, rear leg and he will hold it up sometimes on his walks. It doesn’t slow him down and his mobility is good. Our vet is not recommending treatment at this time but Cooper may need pain meds in the future.

Please see our website (www.adoptadogsavealife.com) for more information about our rescue and adoption process.

Our adoption process includes an online adoption application, a telephone interview, a home visit (virtual or in person), reference checks and a meeting with the dog. An adoption fee of $500.00 applies. Cooper is in a foster home in Toronto.

***Cooper’s bio may change as we learn more about him.

_______________________________________

Introducing Cooper

This little guy is new to our rescue. He came to us from the Windsor Essex Humane Society. Cooper is a 9 year old Chihuahua.

This friendly little dog is settling in nicely to his foster home. Cooper loves to go for walks and spend time in the garden.
Unfortunately Cooper has a mass in his mouth. He also shows some sensitivity in his hind end. He’ll be seeing our vet asap to assess.

He’s not yet available for adoption as we need to learn more about him and his medical needs. We’ll be updating his bio soon.
