My name is COOKIE (SRC#2181). I am just now 6 month old. My birthdate is October 22, 2022. I weigh approximately 12 pounds. I am micro-chipped, have all my vaccinations, am scheduled to be spayed on April 18, 2023 and my vet says that I am very healthy. I have been evaluated for 2 months by my foster family who have gone through SRC's approval process. My foster family is located in Lenoir, NC. Although I am very young, I already know some commands: Sit, No, Settle, Stop, and Stay (lasts about 5 seconds). I am crate trained, potty trained - ( I go to the door when I need to potty) and I walk pretty well on a leash. I am very playful and am full of energy. I would probably make a great agility dog because I love to please my master and when I run and jump, I am like a deer that is a joy to watch.) I love other dogs and cats. This sweet little merle and white Parti-Schnauzer female was purchased originally from Petland. Tracing her orgin this precious pup came to them from Missouri so we can only imagine what she was born into. Our vet checked her thoroughly and says she is very healthy. She has all her vaccines and is on Simpirica Trio. Once spayed, Cookie will be ready for adoption. Her foster family who has gone thru our approval process have worked with her, yet she is still a baby and will need patience and positive reinforcement.<br/><br/>When ready for adoption this dog will be heart-worm negative, de-wormed, vaccinations brought up to date, spayed/neutered if not done already, micro-chipped, examined fully by a vet and any necessary medical issues found by this vet will have been addressed. It is anticipated that this dog will be released for adoption by the same date as the completion of the Evaluation. The date of release is left to their discretion of the SRC Core Team.<br/><br/>THIS DOG IS BEING FOSTERED IN LENOIR, NC AND YOU SHOULD BE WILLING TO DRIVE TO THAT LOCATION IN ORDER TO PICK THE DOG UP THERE WHEN COOKIE IS ADOPTED<br/><br/>.<br/><br/>Tax-deductible donation requested at time of adoption for this dog is $ 545 .<br/><br/>PLEASE READ PRIOR TO APPLYING<br/><br/>When ready for adoption, this canine will have been evaluated for at least two weeks by loving SRC foster parents who will be able to give the adoptive parents their opinion about the demeanor of the family companion prior to the adoptive parents finalizing their adoption of this canine. All our SRC volunteers strive to do this for the well-being of their rescued canine and to assure a successful adoption. It is our worthy mission to assure that each canine rescued by SRC is placed in a loving,stable and permanent home whose family members will treat it as a beloved member of their immediate family. We are prepared to assure that all of our rescued dogs are in great homes or we will reclaim them if necessary.<br/><br/>SRC’s rescued dogs are placed in foster homes throughout NC, SC, TN, and VA until they are adopted.These same states are SRC's approved adoption areas so please do not apply unless you live in one of these states. You must be willing to drive to the dog's foster home in order to adopt the canine. These changes have been initiated for the protection of our applicants and for our volunteers while we are dealing with Covid-19. Once the virus has subsided to the point that people are not dying with this horrific virus, SRC will go back to our standard protocol with home visits being conducted. We cannot hold dogs because this limits our intake of others in need; SRC adopts them out on a first-come, first-serve basis based on a completed approved adoption process. If you are unable to accept your adopted dog within this time frame then SRC will go to the next approval and place with someone able to give the rescue a home within the proper time frame.<br/><br/>SRC does not ordinarily adopt its dogs to families with children under ten years of age. Exceptions are sometimes made on a case by case basis but only when the dog has been raised with children and the children are very respectful of animals. This is for the protection of the dogs and for the protection of the children.<br/><br/>Procedures will be explained to you at the time of approval regarding donation and contract. Your donation is made in honor of the adoption of your new family companion and is never a purchase of an animal. This tax deductible donation goes forward to help incoming rescued dogs.
