She is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport once an adopter is approved. <br/><br/>Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation. <br/><br/>Cookie like so many other dogs found herself either dumped or abandoned in a rural area outside of Houston. She was roaming around with a puppy and we were able to help both of them. The puppy has since been adopted and based on breed, we do not think she was related to Cookie, but she cared for her like she was! <br/><br/>Meet Cookie — the sweetest, silliest, most lovable girl you’ll ever meet!<br/><br/>Cookie is a gentle, playful pup who fits right into family life. She has a wonderful, easygoing personality and gets along beautifully with both people and other dogs.<br/><br/><br/>Cookie has a playful but gentle style with other pups and reads dog body language well—she’ll happily stop when a friend needs a break. She’s been great with medium and large dogs and has had zero concerns in any dog meet. On leash, she either ignores other dogs or tries to politely say hello.<br/><br/>We have no history with cats. <br/><br/>Cookie currently lives with three children (ages 12, 8, and 6) and is regularly around neighborhood kids and even a 1-year-old. She is very gentle with children and patient with all the love they give her. She does still have a bouncy streak and may accidentally knock over a small toddler, but she means well and is learning her manners. She would do well in a home with kids of any age, as long as little ones are supervised due to her size.<br/><br/>She routinely goes to sport practice pick up and drop offs. Her foster mom will take her to outings in the community and she is always a dream. <br/><br/>Cookie is calm and easy on leash—so easy that the kids walk her without any issues.<br/><br/>Cookie is fully potty-trained and very respectful of the home. She is still learning what does and doesn’t count as a toy—kid toys are fair game in her mind—but she does great when given her own dog toys. One of her cutest quirks? She occasionally helps herself to snacks from the pantry, gently carrying a bag of chips to her bed without tearing it open.<br/><br/>She can be crated without any problems. Going in isn’t her favorite, but she settles quietly and doesn’t bark or whine.<br/><br/>Cookie shows no guarding around food, toys, or treats. She eats calmly next to other dogs, and kids can handle her food with no issues. She sits patiently as her bowl is set down.<br/><br/><br/>Cookie is moderate to low energy. She enjoys playtime and walks but is just as happy to relax with her people. She would thrive in most home types—active or quieter. She loves having a dog friend but doesn’t require one.<br/><br/><br/>Cookie is truly the full package: Independent, Outgoing, Curious, Serious, Playful, Smart, Silly, and Affectionate.<br/>She loves toys, enjoys cuddle time, and adores belly rubs. She wants to greet every new person with a wagging tail and big smile. She rides well in the car and handles stairs with no issues.<br/><br/>Fun Facts<br/><br/>Known pantry snacker—she’ll gently “borrow” a bag of chips and bring it to her bed like treasure.<br/><br/>Takes treats softly and knows how to sit like a perfect lady.<br/><br/>Equal parts silly goofball and snuggly companion.<br/><br/><br/>Cookie already knows her basics and has wonderful manners. The only things to keep helping her with are polite jumping and remembering that kids’ toys aren’t dog toys.<br/><br/>Cookie is truly one of those once-in-a-lifetime dogs—sweet, funny, gentle, and endlessly loving.
