Cole's Story

Meet Cole, a 5-year old Chinese Shar-Pei mix! Cole spent a few days evading the nice people at a local distribution center before being lured into the dog warden's truck. Once he was given a warm bed and regular routine he decided he likes the chill life. He is one mellow dude. Except when he isn't. He likes to surprise us with playful spurts, smiling his adorable wrinkly smile. <br/><br/>Cole would do well in most homes, but if there is a feline friend, we'd like to retest him because he wasn't quite sure what to make of the one he met here. If there is a dog in home, a dog introduction would be required. Butler County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process is quite thorough. We require potential adopters to fill out an application. This application includes listing if they rent or own their home, we verify that they either own or have permission to adopt from landlord they rent from. We require all current animals in the house to be up to date on all required vaccinations and spayed/neutered prior to adopting from us. They must provide a veterinary reference if they have owned an animal in the past 5 yrs so we can verify they were not negligent pet parents. We also require two references (must not live in same household, and only 1 can be a family member). We conduct dog intro's here at the facility to ensure our animals are going home to a welcome environment. Sometimes multiple visits are needed. We also ask them if they have any topics they are concerned about or need more information about.
