Cody's Story

Meet Cody 🤍

Cody is a 9-year-old Queensland Heeler with a gentle soul and a heart shaped by deep love. He spent his life with one person, growing up with five cats and another dog, and for the last four years being the only dog in the home. He is calm, mild-mannered, and incredibly sweet.

Cody recently lost his owner after walking beside her through a long illness. He stayed with her through treatments and difficult days, and in her final moments, Cody was right there—offering comfort with gentle licks and quiet cuddles until she passed. He is a loyal companion in the truest sense.

Cody was raised in a quiet, secluded area of Kelso and, until recently, had only ever lived within a fenced yard. He has just been introduced to a harness and leash and is learning very quickly. While the outside world is new and sometimes overwhelming, Cody is curious, responsive, and making steady progress with gentle guidance.

Because his world changed so suddenly, Cody is currently skittish and cautious, especially with loud noises and unfamiliar environments. He also shows some apprehension around other dogs at this time. Any introductions will need to be slow, structured, and patient, with consistency and reassurance as he builds confidence.

Cody would thrive in a calm, low-stimulation home with someone who understands that he is grieving and learning many new things at once. He doesn’t need a perfect setup—just patience, routine, and kindness. In return, he offers quiet companionship, deep loyalty, and a presence that feels steady and sincere.

If you’re looking for a gentle, soulful dog who is learning the world one step at a time and ready to feel safe again, Cody is waiting 🐾
