Coconut - TRAINED PUPPY 's Story
Meet Coconut aka "Coco"

Coconut is a 7-month-old puppy with a big personality. He had a rough start—found tied to a tree, starving, with a belly full of worms and trash—but despite it all, he is trusting, resilient, and ready for a fresh start.

We expect Coconut to be around 40 lbs fully grown, making him a great medium-sized companion. He is dewormed, vaccinated, and neutered, as well as crate trained, where he sleeps through the night. He did very well in the car and is was working leash and house training, making geat progress in his foster home before coming into our program. He shared his foster home with adults and a 5yr old little girl + other dogs.

He is a happy, active, and curious puppy with classic terrier determination. He loves people, enjoys other dogs, and thrives on being involved in whatever is happening around him. When faced with something unfamiliar, he may pause to assess the situation—but his curiosity quickly takes over, and he’s soon back to exploring.

When Coconut is out of his crate, he’s always looking for a purpose—someone to follow, a dog to play with, or something to do. He loves toys, is learning to play fetch, and enjoys chewing on Nylabones. He’s alert and expressive, always wide-eyed and ready to go.

Coconut is super smart, highly food motivated, and eager to learn. With continued structure, discipline, and positive reinforcement, he’s going to be a standout student.

Coconuts only flaw: He is also protective of his food, which he tends to eat quickly and so currently uses a slow-feed bowl for his safety. But do you blame him? He was beyond starving as a baby on the street. Best to let him eat in his kennel in peace where he doesn't have to feel threatened.

Overall, Coconut is a fun-loving puppy who would thrive in an active, experienced home—ideally with a confident, social adult dog to help guide him. While his experience with cats is unknown, he has shown neutral, calm interest when seeing them on walks. With exercise and continued training, we expect Coconut to be a loyal, joyful companion.

This dog is currently participating in our prison dog training program in Miami, Florida.

Our dogs become available for adoption upon completion of their training program where they meet all the criteria to pass the following AKC certifications:

1. AKC (American Kennel Club) Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
2. AKC CGC-Advanced
3. AKC Trick Dog Novice

Go ahead, google all that :)

For more information about each of our dogs and our program send us a text to (305) 842-3974 or fill out an application on our website. Once we receive your application, you'll be invited to a zoom interview.

Learn more about our program and fillout an application at www.magiccityk9.org.

Please note that we require all prospective adopters to fill out an application at our website. The message you send through PetFinder (here) is not OUR application, it's an inquiry.
