Cocoa's Story

Cocoa is an adorable almost 4-month old small breed mix. She is almost housetrained, sleeps in her crate at night, and she loves car rides.

Cocoa is doing wonderfully in a home environment and is off to an impressive start with her training. She is mostly potty trained and does best on a consistent schedule, going outside every couple of hours. She had only a few accidents during her first couple of days while adjusting. Cocoa walks very nicely on leash without pulling and comes when called. She does well in a kennel for daytime naps and sleeps through the night in it with no potty accidents.

She has a calm, sweet demeanor and is very affectionate, loving nothing more than snuggling with her people and canine companions. While she enjoys relaxing, she also has a playful side and loves engaging during playtime. Like many puppies, her play style can be a bit rough and she can be mouthy at times, but she is learning to play gently and respond to boundaries.

Cocoa is a true cuddle bug and has an adorable habit of standing up on her hind legs for treats like a tiny dancer. She loves plush toys and chew toys and happily entertains herself with them. She would likely do very well in a home with another playful dog, as she enjoys frequent play with canine friends. Cocoa would also thrive with an adopter who can give her plenty of attention, structure, and time to continue learning and growing into a well-mannered companion.

Her foster says, "Cocoa has been an absolute doll and perfect little companion and play-mate to myself and my personal dog. She loves to play with toys and is very good at sharing them. Cocoa and Tito will share a his favorite chew bone and each chew on one end at the same time. She’s confirmed that fostering was the right choice for me and my family."

Thank you for considering an OTAT-WTX rescue! All pets are living in foster homes, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on core vaccines.

If you are interested in adopting, or for more information, please visit our website: https://otatwtx.org/how-to-adopt
