Cocoa's Story

Meet Cocoa! Cocoa is a 9 year-old cocker spaniel. But don’t let his age fool you, he's a spritely little guy with lots of love to give. He is deaf and has low vision, but he doesn't let any of that stop him from enjoying life. He gets around the house just fine once he gets the lay of the land, he can manage a few low steps, and he jumps right into the car for adventures.

Cocoa is affectionate and loves to be near his person, but he's happy to lounge around the house independently too. When he's ready for pets and attention, he will sweetly alert you with a low "gremlin growl." He's good with other dogs and would be a great addition to a family with older kids who know how to play gently and are understanding of his low vision.

While in foster care, Cocoa has been a perfect house guest. He is house trained and is not destructive (save for sneaking a tissue out of the bathroom trash, so guard your waste baskets). He only barks occasionally, and he always does so with a purpose, like if it's time to eat or go outside. This distinguished gentleman likes to keep his schedule!

Cocoa has been diagnosed with chronic dry eye, so he will need his owner to keep up with the daily administration of his eye drops and lubricating eye gel. He doesn’t sweat it, though, and he will sit sweetly while you care for him. Cocoa will also need regular grooming, but he recently had a spa day with the expert groomers at Zeus’s and is looking sharp!

Cocoa is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, heart worm negative, and has recently had his teeth cleaned so that he can be in tip top shape for his new home. This sizzling senior gets lots of attention wherever he goes, and he’s ready for his next adventure with you!
