Cocoa's Story

Cocoa is looking for a foster-to-adopt home!<br/><br/>We're officially seeking a foster-to-adopt family for Cocoa, our 80lb certified land hippo and professional couch potato. <br/><br/>As most of you know, Cocoa was rescued from ACCT Philly, where she found herself timestamped for euthanasia after two months in the shelter when her family of three years moved and couldn't take her along. We learned about her just 12 hours before her deadline and grabbed her in the nick of time and we're so glad we did!<br/><br/>Cocoa is about 5 years old, sweet as can be, and loves nothing more than being close to her people. She's currently on antibiotics for some lingering skin issues, so her foster-to-adopt family must be willing to coordinate with us and transport her to our vet for any follow-up appointments. We want to make sure she's fully healed before finalizing her adoption.<br/> While we can't guarantee an exact timeline, we expect the trial period to last just a few weeks as long as everything goes smoothly. Once she's medically cleared, we'll complete the paperwork and finalize her adoption. <br/><br/>A few things about Cocoa:<br/>* 80lbs of love and loyalty <br/>* House-trained and knows "sit," "down," and "leave it"<br/>* Excellent leash manners and loves long walks<br/>* Mild separation anxiety, her ideal home is with someone who works from home/is around most of the day or can afford daily check ins with a dog walker/sitter<br/>* Dog selective (per ACCT Philly) though we haven't dog-tested her in our care, but we think she'd thrive as an only dog<br/>* Cat-friendly, but has big-dog energy and would do best with confident, dog-savvy cats<br/>* Great with kids, but keep her size and occasional jumping in mind<br/>* Fenced yard would be great but not required however daily walks are a must!

Oakland TNR Coalition's Adoption Policy
Adopting a cat is a big responsibility and commitment, but it's also one of the biggest acts you can ever do for an animal in need. Each cat in our care has its own story and background. All are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, flea-treated, dewormed, microchipped, and FIV/FeLV negative (unless stated otherwise). Because of the time, care, and vetting put into each cat, our adoption fee is $110 for one cat over one year old or $200 for two, and $140 for one cat under one year old or $260 for two. Filling out this application does not guarantee that you will be approved for adoption. Due to the influx of applications, we may not be able to reply to all applicants. By filling out this application you agree that all information on this form is correct and to our adoption process which includes a home tour, a vet reference (personal reference if you do not have a vet), and landlord approval if you are a renter.
