Cochrane / Ladybird's Story

General Notes | Ladybird is the quintessential "pocket lab" who packs a whole lot of sunshine into a perfectly petite 40-pound frame! If you love the loyal, happy-go-lucky nature of a labrador but are looking for a more compact co-pilot for your daily adventures, this littlw beauty is exactly who you've been dreaming of! Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days.

Personality | Ladybird is as sweet as her name suggests, with a gentle disposition and a face that defines "adorable." She has that classic yellow Lab glow and a tail that seems to have a permanent "wag" setting. While she's smaller than your average Lab, she has twice the heart, offering soulful gazes and leaning in for pets whenever she gets the chance. Whether she's trotting politely on a leash or curling up into a tidy little ball at your feet, Lady carries herself with a quiet grace that makes her a joy to have around. She is the perfect blend of active companion and professional snuggler, ready to fill your home with golden vibes and endless devotion.

Story | Ladybird came from one of our partner shelters in Nagadoches, TX. They knew this special girl needed to get out of the shelter and into a home! Their volunteers fully commit to assisting with transport to our Texas fosters

Other Dogs | Ladybird loves to play with other dogs and definitely feels the best greeting is with a kiss

Cats | Ladybird was cat-tested at the shelter and had no issues with a feline friend in her space (she was far more concerned with their snacks)

Children | Ladybird is hanging around school-aged kiddos and doing great

Training | Working on some basics but has very good house manners

Leash | Ladybird can't help but get the zoomies sometimes but how could she not be excited about her brand new hot pink harness

Activity Level | Moderate - your typical lab!

Health Notes | Ladybird is UTD on shots, spayed and is heartworm positive. Mile High (like with all our HW+ pups) takes on this expense in full. Heartworm disease is very treatable and dogs go on to live happy, healthy lives. Don't let this stop you from checking out this wonderful pup!

Thank you! |

Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).

Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file.

Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.

We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
