Clover's Story

Clover is an incredibly sweet dog with a TON of love to give to his forever family. He is great on walks and is happy going for short or long ones. While he is great on a leash, he can be curious of other dogs and may pull towards them. Clover is easily corrected and ultimately aims to please his family. Sometimes he'll make a whimper sound or bark to tell you he wants to go towards them, but knows that he should stay by your side. Clover does great at the dog park; he enjoys sniffing and running around at his leisure. He is good with new and familiar dogs coming up to him, and as he gets comfortable, he will join in on the running around and playing. Clover is quick to show you his belly and demand belly rubs. He LOVES any pets and scratches that he can get--and he will nuzzle your arm with his head or paw to get you to keep going.

Clover can typically be found near his foster mom's feet while she works or in a dog bed with his feet splayed and belly up. Clover has a great appetite and is super excited each meal time. He sits pretty while you make his dinner and is currently eating chicken and rice JFFD with a kibble topper twice a day. Clover is working on crate training at the moment while his foster mom is gone at work. He can be nervous at first while his foster mom is gone, so this has helped offer a safe space where he can nap. He does bark at first when she leaves, but does quiet down and pretty much just sleeps the entire time she is gone. Clover is currently in a foster home with other Poms, but he doesn't really care about them. He would rather play with the family during games of fetch or tug of war. Sometimes he'll throw a toy around himself to play! He is typically quiet during the day when his family is home, unless he gets riled up from rough housing. Clover also loves to run and jump onto the couch into your lap for cuddles. He is two with plenty of energy, so he sometimes has that young guy energy in the form of playing or zoomies. Clover is GREAT in the car and easily sits or naps in the dog car seat. He sleeps in a dog bed next to his foster mom at night. He has not been tested with cats, so we are not sure how he would do there. Fun fact: he knows how to swim with a life vest!

He is potty trained in his current foster home, but will need to be taught the routine in his new home. Clover really wants to please his family, so he is definitely trainable to whatever the routine and expectations are in his new home. He isn't super treat motivated, but he loves praise and affection. Clover would be great for a variety of homes, including ones with children. If you are looking for a pup to be active with or spend time at home with, Clover would be an excellent addition. He would not be great in a home where he is regularly left alone for long hours. He is incredibly sweet and would be good as the only dog or with other dogs that can teach him the ropes.
