Clint(Reduced Rover)'s Story
Meet Clint: The Good, the Bad & the Tennis Ball

Some dogs chase tennis balls. Clint looks at a tennis ball the way Clint Eastwood looks at a villain across a dusty street.

Slow blink. Calculated pause. Certain cinematic gravity.

"Go ahead," his face says. "Throw it."

Clint is an almost 9-year-old, 60-pound mix with the calm confidence of a guy who's seen some things and has concluded that toys, walks, snacks, and reasonable people are the better use of his remaining daylight.

He's dog friendly, affectionate, playful, and an enthusiastic collector of toys. Getting one back may require negotiations. A Few Dollars More could expedite matters.

Cats receive the Eastwood squint and little further consideration. He enjoys his crate when left alone, partly because unsupervised Clint occasionally gets creative with household belongings. Nothing sinister. A sock changes jurisdictions. A shoe gets reassigned.

He'll also bark at activity beyond the fence because somebody has to keep an eye on the town.

At almost nine, Clint has mastered the rare art of being fun without being exhausting.

Go ahead.
