Clifford's Story
DOB: 7/23/25 Current Weight(as of 12/19/25): 14.7 Lbs
Adoption Fee: $275 includes 1 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness.
Clifford is a lot smaller in person then he appears in his pictures!
Clifford was found out in the country. All nearby farms were contacted and no one claimed him We get a lot of dogs dumped in the country. Poor little guy was on his own. So, this means we have no idea what breeds of dogs he can be. His size makes us think he will stay on the medium size...20 to 25pds.... we can not guarantee this. Just going by his Weight,, size and age makes us think this.
Clifford is the dominate play type of puppy with dogs his size and smaller. What l mean by this is that he wants to try and show how tough he is by stealing their toys and putting them all in his bed. After getting to know some of the dogs his size and smaller he will become playful with them and want to share his bed and toys. Clifford just wants others to know that he is the leader. He usually bows downs to the bigger dogs when they correct him. He really loves dogs that are larger then himself. Clifford must think he is larger then he is. He has to be fed alone because he gets dominant over the food and will act like all the food bowls are his. It's safer for him and the other dogs to feed him in his crate. We can hand out treats and he is just fine with everyone getting one. He still has those puppy teeth that are really sharp. We are correcting him any time he thinks it's alright to puppy bite us. He was never taught this before. He is a quick learner and we only have to correct him once in a while now. It's when he first comes out of his crate and is so excited and ready to go outside.

Clifford is definitely going to make some lucky family a wonderful companion. He loves all the dogs in his foster family. The older ones he respects and the younger ones he tries to get to play with him. He will run outside with the dogs to go potty but knowing he is a puppy and will still have accidents, his fosters put out a pee wee pad for him near the door. When he goes to bed in his crate every night he also has a pad taking up half the area in it for any nighttime needs. Clifford is so well behaved in his crate. The only time he let's out a peep is if he needs to go potty. The pad is in case we don't hear him. He is a loving little guy but he doesn't really like being held to long because he wants down to play. He really seems to be very observant of what's going on around him and he wants to be in the middle of it. He has such a sweet face and his reddish fur is very soft. Don't wait to get your application in on this cutie.
Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty. Please make sure that you have a “potty plan” in place if considering adoption.
All of our puppies have been spay/neuter, wormed, microchipped, and given age appropriate vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/adopting one of them just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.
Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient. You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.
Would you like to foster a Furry Kid?
