Cliffe's Story

Cliffe is an endearing and social 2 year old lab x boy looking for his second chance at a forever home. With an eager-to-please attitude and a heart full of love, he is ready to be your loyal companion whether you have a house full of dogs, cats, or kids, or whether you are looking for your one and only. Cliffe is fine with any vibe and comes ready to blend into your tribe or be your numero uno. No matter what, if you have ball, you're his bestie (and he even drops it at your feet!).

If you are a Jays fan (congrats on a great 2025 season!), you'll notice that just like Max Scherzer, Cliffe has heterochromia which is the fancied up way of saying two different coloured eyes. His blue eye is stunning, set against his jet black fur whereas his brown eye carries the warmth and affection that make up this 55 lb hunk of love. Cliffe rates high on the affectionate scale and is not shy about showing it. He is happy as a clam to run and play with his dog buds, but he feels compelled to know that you're still there so he comes back for check ins and some walking at your heels. Then he's off again to chase and gossip with his friends and then back to check in.

When Cliffe is in the yard, he is the first guy to meet you at the back door. His ears perk up and his tail wags and he is learning to show his love while keeping all four on the floor but when there are other fosters who are butting in and jumping up, sometimes it's hard not to join the fray. That being said, Cliffe is the ultimate pleaser so when you ask him to do something, or stop doing something, he's all about the praise and treats he knows will come from doing so.

Cliffe is a social, affectionate, caring dude of this generation except for his plush coat which harkens back to the days of velour suits and disco balls. His coat is thick and soft and worthy of all the snuggles you can give. Not surprisingly, being close on the couch is not a hardship for Cliffe and he's happy to listen to you talk about those velvet or velour pants your mum made you wear in the 80s.

Cliffe is a low ranking dog in the dog world so he can fit with anyone. Since pleasing is his super power, this extends to those in the animal world as well. He loves his foster dog sibs and he's living with multiple cats who he is curious about but has had the biology lesson about cat vs squirrel. Again, being a pleaser, connection is his priority and whoever his person is living with is family to Cliffe.

Cliffe is:
Great with people, dogs and cats
Loves to play ball and carry it around the house
Super in the car
House trained
Affectionate
Gorgeous!

Cliffe is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, dewormed, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $800. Cliffe is currently fostering in the Caledon area.

**A consult with The Northern Dogs Project's partner dog centric behaviourist is mandatory for anyone interested in adopting Cliffe at a cost of $80. This consult gets everyone on the same page and well on their way to success.

Adoption process includes application, virtual home visit, phone interview, reference check, meet & greet, adoption contract and $800 adoption fee.

***Fill out the ADOPTION APPLICATION at:
https://signup.ifaw.org/en-ca/northern-dogs-adoption-application-form

Cliffe will be checking emails and will get back to those applicants who he feels are his destiny.

Northern Dogs Project's Adoption Policy
Northern dogs are not a breed but a lifestyle. Until recently most dogs were free roaming but communities are now making changes to how they want to coexist with dogs and many are now tying. Dogs are all identified by Animal Care and are adopted to families in the south as family members only. Northern dogs are smart, experienced, dog social, have been handled by kids, feel safe with women, and are slightly unsure of men at first. Dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (core vaccines DAPP and rabies), microchipped and dewormed.
