Many people do not realize what an important role these dogs play in veterinary care until their own pet needs a blood transfusion! The blood bank we partner with treats all of the hero hounds with special care throughout their lives, and their staff loves getting to know each dog. When dogs are no longer eligible to donate, or even if they simply don't enjoy being donors, they retire and enjoy a life of relaxation. The right adopter will understand that these sweet dogs are accustomed to being treated like the heroes they are. They are able to live out their golden years as well-loved dogs at the blood bank kennel - but both the kennel staff and Prison Greyhounds believe that after so many years of helping others, these hounds have earned a retirement filled with comfy couches and their very own adopters!
