Cleo's Story
Time for an introduction to our recently rescued pups, who were found by a caring individual and rescued from a Manitoba landfill. They are now safe with us and looking forward to a much brighter future!
To answer the inevitable question "what breed is Cleo?" we really don't know for sure. We always call our Manitoba rescues "Manitoba mixes". Some other rescues refer to them as "Manitoba specials". Whatever their DNA consists of, they are always beautiful, sweet and deserving. And usually expected to be large adults once fully grown. Based on her current size we think Cleo will grow up to be a large adult and 60+ lbs.
Cleo has had 2 wellness checks with the vet, first & second DAPP vaccines, fecal testing, deworming, parasite prevention (Nexgard Spectra) and is microchipped.
Cleo was in a temporary foster home with her sister Billie - there was another large dog in the home and they enjoyed having him around. Her foster mom says that Cleo is also sweet and a little smaller than her sister right now - but that doesn't stop her from venturing. She loves her big doodle foster brother Ollie and is always jumping on him and giving kisses. She would love another tolerant, friendly dog in the home, although it is not a necessity as long as she has a pal or two to learn from and play with. She plays hard and then curls up into a ball to sleep.
Cleo and siblings are seeking dog experienced homes - if there are any kids in the home we require that they are school-aged (6+) & dog savvy, ideally with large breed dogs. We do not know her experience with dogs before arriving to us but as with most puppies she would benefit from continued socialization with other friendly dogs...but no dog parks please! This goes for all of our available dogs - please google reasons why your dog should not attend a dog park. However we do think puppy lessons (individual & group classes) are a great way to train, bond with and help set up your new family member for success.
Puppies this age require someone home more often than not - they require crate training, potty training & socialization and should have someone available to help them with this every few hours. Being left alone for a full work day would not be suitable for any of the pups in our care.
Please send an EMAIL (or Petfinder form + follow up email) with additional questions or to request an application and meeting. Cleo and siblings will be ready for forever homes by the weekend of December 12th.

*** Please note that we only adopt locally, ideally within an hour or so from our Chesterville/Morewood, ON. location ***
