Claire's Story

Claire is a 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog who came to the shelter when her owner was moving and unable to take her along. So far, Claire has shown herself to be a quiet, calm Heeler, which is a pleasant surprise for the breed!

She has the cutest little build with short legs and a short tail, and we can’t help but wonder if there might be a bit of Corgi mixed in there. Claire walks well on a leash and is currently working on housebreaking, doing well as she settles into a routine.

Claire gets along with other dogs, and her previous owner mentioned possible food guarding. We have not yet seen this behavior, and since she was not current on vaccines when she arrived, she has had limited dog introductions so far. As with any dog, slow introductions and respectful feeding routines are recommended.

She has shown interest in our shelter cats and seemed to do well, though we are unsure how she would respond to a cat that runs—something to keep in mind for potential adopters.

Claire is up to date on vaccines and will be spayed before leaving the shelter.

If you’re looking for a sweet, calm companion with an adorable look and a loving personality, Claire could be the perfect addition to your home.
