Chunky Monkey's Story
Meet Chunky Monkey! This handsome guy is about 10 weeks old (as of 8/1/14) and looking for his fur-ever home! He has one brown and one blue eye - giving him that extra special look! He is your typical puppy in that he will need training, but while in foster care he is getting a head start. He sleeps in a crate at night and although he cries for a minute or two he quickly settles down and will sleep quietly all night. He also keeps his crate clean - waiting to be let out in the morning to go potty. He has now stared to go into his crate on his own to take naps. Although you should NEVER take a puppy out in public before 16 weeks (that is when they can be fully vaccinated) he is learning what a leash is by going for backyard walks. He is dog friendly, not sure about cats, and should be with kids 5 and up. (I have a 3 year old and he can be a bit much for my son who is use to dogs, especially large ones). Chunky Monkey will also need a home who has bully experience, as being part American Bulldog he can be stubborn and will need a home who can assert themselves as pack leader. He is very playful and will play with almost anything. For more information or to find out how to meet Chunky Monkey, please contact Stephanie at s.cooper7777@gmail.com. He IS NOT AT THE SHELTER - you will have to contact me to see him. I am happy to bring him to the shelter for meetings. He will be adopted as a FAMILY DOG ONLY. If you are looking for a backyard lawn figure visit Home Depot. He will be adopted to the right home, and will not be on a first come basis. (sc)
Due to severe budget cuts we have a very small staff to care for nearly 300 animals a day. Please donate, volunteer and license your pet. How to help
Dogs are "pack animals" and need to be inside the house daily with their humans. Behavior problems such as barking, chewing and hyper behavior are caused by leaving a dog in a backyard day and night.
Animals must be altered before going home. Renters bring written landlord approval. Visit www.saccountyshelter.net for info on fees, hours, adoptions and volunteering.
