Chueka's Story

Meet Chueka: the Little Penguin-Footed Wonder from Tulum

At just 2 years old and 30 pounds, Chueka has already lived a lifetime of stories—and she’s ready for her happiest chapter yet. Born with uniquely shaped hind legs (affectionately called her “penguin feet”), this extraordinary mutt girl has never let her differences dim her spirit. In fact, her resilience is part of what makes her unforgettable.

Chueka first came to our attention in a video featuring a deaf bulldog in Tulum, Mexico. The moment we saw her sweet, gentle demeanor and brave little stride, we knew she was special. The local rescue shared that both Chueka and her bulldog best friend, both considered “special needs," were nearly impossible to place in Mexico. And because they were absolute best friends, we signed up for the pair without hesitation.
Before rescue, Chueka had been abandoned in the beach town, found emaciated and malnourished. Today, she is thriving. She is fully vetted (spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative), healthy, and blossoming into the social butterfly she was always meant to be.
And oh, is she a socialite. Chueka loves everyone: dogs, cats, pigs, parrots… you name it. She is affectionate, gentle, and endlessly friendly. She enjoys leisurely walks, car rides, comfy beds, and showing the world just how capable she truly is. Her recall is excellent, making her wonderful both on- and off-leash. She’s also house trained, crate trained, and has zero aggression in her sweet little bones.

Chueka is the definition of resilient, loving, and remarkable. If you’ve been searching for a dog who will inspire you daily, make you laugh, and love you endlessly, this girl just might be the one.

Think Chueka could be a perfect fit for your home? Apply to meet her at: CRAPrescue.org/application

Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet / the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Cheuka's adoption fee is $300, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.
