Chubs's Story

Hi, my name is Chubs! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Affectionate, playful, still learning the ropes of life!
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history - likely ok with kids of most ages. Recommending 6+ due to size and general higher energy.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history - slow and supervised introductions always recommended.
-Can Live with Dogs: No thanks - although Chubs gets along with his littermate he is under-socialized and needs a lot of work and training to be able to interact with other dogs.
-Can do Apartment Living: No thanks - Chubs is going to be a BIG boy and will need a larger space to occupy.
-Potty Trained: Working on it!
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Not required, but highly encouraged to help Chubs gain confidence and learn basic skills.
-Energy Level: High!
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, neuter.

Chubs is a young, large breed mix, BIG BOI who is still getting the hang of life indoors and all the exciting things that come with it. Like his brother, he likely spent much of his early time outside, so he’s learning that leashes, structure, and polite manners are part of the deal now. He’s a happy, wiggly adolescent who will benefit from continued training, consistency, and plenty of positive outlets for his energy. Chubs is looking for a home that’s ready for the large-breed puppy experience: ongoing training, enrichment, and a sense of humor while he figures things out. With patience and guidance, he’s sure to grow into a loyal, fun-loving companion who will keep you smiling. If you’re ready for a big, silly best friend in the making, Chubs might be your guy!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
