Chubby

CHUBBY is a 1.5 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 76 pounds. Chubby is a friendly pup ready to roll over for belly rubs. He enjoys going for walks on the leash and meeting new people and other dogs. Everyone says he is a gorgeous dog. He knows some commands: sit and down. He has great house manners. At night he sleeps quietly in the dog bed in his foster Mom's room. Chubby gets nervous around moving cars- and this is understandable, he's working on staying calm by making him sit by your side nice and secure and rewarding his calm behavior with little treats. Chubby is good with other dogs. Chubby has been recovering from a serious injury to his left hind leg after being hit by a car. He needed extensive surgery where plates and screws were put in place to hold the bones together. He has needed months of rehabilitation and rest time to save that leg. He's almost at the end of his rehab and needs another 3-4 weeks of leashed walks. Chubby needs to go to a family with a fenced-in yard, not invisible fence, and in a quiet neighborhood. Chubby was an owner surrender after being hit by a car. He is approved for kids 10+. <br/><br/>Update:: Chubby has found the toy box. Yesterday was the resident beagles birthday and he had a little bowl of vanilla ice cream to celebrate. You never saw a bigger smile in your life. He was so happy. If you want to go back to sleep after taking Chubby outside to go he is content to settle back in for another hour of sleep. He is a loving puppy that really wants to play and wrestle. <br/><br/>Update:: Chubby would love to be in a home where someone will not be gone all day. He will lay at your feet while you work on the computer or sew/cook. Would like to crawl in your lap if you let him. He is a great car companion as he rides very calmly!! Chubby does not touch anything that is not his in the house, no trash, no counter or coffee table surfing. He loves belly rubs and enjoys chewing on antlers. He has proven to be trust worthy uncrated when left alone for about an hour. He seems to be very playful but he still has restrictions so no rough housing for this boy just yet. <br/><br/>This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP.
