She was found as a stray and estimated to be around 8 years old, but after spending time with her, we're convinced someone forgot to check her birth certificate. With her playful spirit, bright attitude, and enthusiasm for life (especially if snacks are involved), we'd put her closer to 3 to 4 years old.<br/><br/>Chocolate is exactly what her name suggests—sweet, comforting, and impossible not to love. This clever girl already knows "sit" and "paw," walks beautifully on a leash, and keeps her kennel spotless. She's very food motivated, so teaching her new tricks should be as easy as opening a bag of treats.<br/><br/>When introduced to another dog, Chocolate was all about making a new friend. With her easygoing personality, we expect she'd enjoy having a canine companion, though she'd also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention herself. She hasn't met any cats yet, but we're happy to arrange a cat test if needed.<br/><br/>Now, let's talk about the only thing that makes Chocolate a little different. She has a common German Shepherd eye condition called pannus. While it sounds intimidating, it's very manageable. Chocolate has some scarring and pigmentation—more in her right eye—but she still gets around beautifully and doesn't let it slow her down one bit. Now and then she may be startled if something appears suddenly or her depth perception is a little off, but she's adapted wonderfully. Her only "maintenance requirement" is daily eye medication for the rest of her life. The drops are quick, easy to administer, and help keep the condition from progressing.<br/><br/>If you're looking for a loyal companion with great manners, a heart as sweet as her name, and a face that's impossible to resist, Chocolate is ready to melt into your life. Chocolate is vaccinated, microchipped, on monthly heartworm prevention, and will be spayed before adoption. Seniors are special to us, so we offer two options:<br/><br/>(1) If your heart has a special place for the seniors, you can adopt a senior dog for the regular adoption fee of $400 and this becomes a perpetual fee.
