Chloe's Story

A060513 Chloe; intact Terrier mix; est. 10 months; 19.40 lbs
Contact: Calaveras County Animal Services
(209)754-6509
Website: https://animal.calaverasgov.us/
Email: animal@calaverascounty.gov

Meet the adorable little Miss Chloe.

Chloe, as you can see, is a very photogenic young lady. She poses like a supermodel, gazing steadily and curiously at the camera or in other artful directions like a real pro. And those ears, my goodness!

When Chloe first arrived at the shelter, she was awfully scared of everything and all of us in that chaotic, noisy environment. She's a sensitive and very quiet dog; we've hardly heard her make a peep. She was found running in and out of the highway in Arnold; we can understand how that could be traumatic for a lost little one.

With the patient, gentle presence of our master dog whisperers and offerings of treats, in a couple days she came to trust and allow herself to be softly loved and petted. She is still a bit timid, especially with new people. Day by day, though, she is growing in confidence, feeling safe and brave enough now to do some playful cavorting and asking for lots of snacks and snuggles from her trusted peeps.

Chloe is timid with other dogs initially but she's met quite a few now and has liked all the ones that liked her. She's had a nice time in the puppy pen with little Corky, also available for adoption. Just today, she crawled of her own accord into this author's lap while Corky was perched upon a shoulder to get a better view of goings on.

She's not a maniac around food like some dogs can be. Even the luscious wet food we use for food tests didn't crack her composure. However, she does love getting treats once she's comfortable. She'll plop her rump down for them and takes them very gently.

She is quite pleasant on the leash, as well, making walkies with her very enjoyable.

At just ten months, Chloe will get a little larger but probably not a whole lot. Her moderate size makes her a delightful snuggle friend.

With her soft-eyed good looks and her gentle manner, we'd guess that once she settles into a loving home she'll make some lucky family a very sweet companion, perhaps even an emotional support dog.

Chloe will need to be spayed before she can go home with you.

Though we can't make guarantees, she keeps her inner kennel tidy.

We do not have info on her attitude toward cats at this time.

As always, a meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
