Meet Chiquita (aka Mamacita)!

She is estimated to be about 1 year old with lots of puppy energy and play still bursting to come out. She is a fawn colored, like a little deer, and is about 13 pounds. She has a beautiful sleek short coat with a little bit of white on her face and butt and a white blaze on her chest. Chiquita’s tail never stops wagging. She is so happy to see you when you greet her. She is a super happy dog.

Chiquita is active and FAST! She loves all people (kids and adults) and does well with other respectful dogs (big and small). Chiquita is submissive but not a pushover! She won’t let her foster sisters steal her food but she shares her space with them nicely and wants to play. She would welcome a furry brother or sister to help her get some puppy energy out. She has a high prey drive and does not do well with chickens (foster mom believes other four legged friends like cats would be ok). She is still figuring out what to do with toys and a leash but is very athletic. She loves treats and takes them very gently. She is also free-fed, so she’s super easy.

Chiquita is 95% potty trained if you let her outside often enough. She can use the dog door like a champ and never messes up her space. She does not try to run away when outside (she is in a fenced yard currently at foster mom’s house) and comes running when you call her. She likes to explore but always comes back to be with her people. She has a silly personality and loves to bounce around a room. She follows her foster mom everywhere and is just a happy girl wanting to please. She likes to be held but is still learning how to snuggle on the sofa for a movie. Do you have the love and time to dedicate to Chiquita? She is an extremely happy dog that would love to join you at the local brew pub or your hike to the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Chiquita is not yet spayed and will be considered foster to adopt until she is spayed. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and fully vetted. She is heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm preventative. She does have what appears to be a cherry eye in one eye that doesn’t seem to be going away with eye drops but this doesn’t appear to bother Chiquita.
Her adoption donation is $300.00.

An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled.
Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.
Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
