Chiquis's Story
Chiquis (pronounced “Chick-ees”) is a one-year-old, 11-pound, red Chihuahua mix with a lot of love to give. She came to us with her name, so we decided to keep it. After all, a girl who knows both English and Spanish deserves a name that suits her!

Sadly, Chiquis found herself at the Maricopa County shelter through no fault of her own. Her family had raised her from puppyhood, but when they brought home a much larger dog who began trying to attack her, they surrendered her to County. Understandably frightened by her experience and overwhelmed at the shelter, Chiquis ended up on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, she made it to Home Fur Good, where she could have another chance at finding the security and love she deserves.

Here, Chiquis has shown us what a sweet little girl she is. She's initially a bit timid and submissive with new people, but her friendly nature shines through as she becomes comfortable. She's easy to handle, doesn't mind being picked up, and walks nicely on a leash. She's also just one year old, so she's still an energetic young pup who will enjoy an active family ready to share walks, playtime, and plenty of attention with her.

Chiquis is still learning how to feel comfortable around other dogs. We've introduced her to some small dogs, and while she does okay, she's sometimes unsure of how to interact and may growl. Given that her last experience with another dog involved being threatened, it's understandable that she might be cautious. She'll need patient guidance and respectful, gradual introductions.

Could you be the person who gives this little bilingual sweetheart the fresh start she needs? Chiquis is ready to leave the uncertainty behind and find a family who will cherish her for the rest of her life.

Chiquis’ adoption fee is $300 and includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital.

To schedule an appointment to meet Chiquis, please call 602-971-1334. You can also visit Home Fur Good Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during our walk-in hours.
