Chip - can be adopted with Ellie's Story

Meet Chip!

Chip or “Chippy” turned 4 years old on Dec 27, 2025! He's a 63 lb. Lab/Cattle Dog mix (DNA tested).

Chip loves off-leash adventures and playing with dogs of all sizes and ages. He bonds quickly and would be a great road trip companion, running companion and ride or die! He needs a confident leader to look to for guidance, as he is highly intelligent and can calculate how to make mischief.

He is also very sensitive and soulful. He does have some separation anxiety (aka FOMO), but he's been in a live-in training program which has helped assuage it significantly.

Chip has great recall, a solid Sit, Down, Place and is crate trained. He's a fantastic dog! He loves to offer his belly for rubs and nestle his head into a hug. He loves children; however, he has twice been rehomed due to families with children having no time with for him, so, he needs a dog-dedicated human to be his forever human.

Chip’s adoption comes with training sessions to transfer the training so that it can be maintained until he settles in successfully. These sessions are required and complimentary.

Chip’s bestie Ellie (Labrador Retriever) is also available for adoption, if you have room in your home and heart for a sweet bonded pair.

For more info and/or to apply to adopt Chip, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.
