Chip's Story

Hi, my name is Chip. I was picked up on the streets by animal control and ended up in doggy jail. Thankfully my friends at Save-A-Bull came and bailed me out of that horrible situation. Now, let me tell you about me! Im about 4 months old probably a mix of Pittie and Shepherd. Im a high energy pup, but the good news is that when my energy is burned off I can relax and chill out. Im extremely smart and I learn fast. Not to brag, but in only two days I learned and mastered the treadmill! I am also highly food motivated and will work hard to earn my food while I do my obedience lessons. My foster family thinks Im so talented that I even have pawsibilities to be a good sport dog. Im getting the hang of this potty training thing. So far I have not peed or pooped in my kennel. I have not figured out how to indicate at the door yet when I want to go out, but as long as you remember to take me out to potty, Ill do it! At night I sleep really well in my crate, but when my human puts me in the crate during the day I cry a little bit because I dont like to be on my own. My foster human thinks it is a bit of separation anxiety but the good thing is that Im in the process of learning that being on my own is not that bad. My foster humans are teaching me that my crate is actually a safe environment where I can relax. If you can continue this work it will help me become a more confident dog. Im learning how to walk on the leash and, like most everything else, if you can teach me and guide me Ill be a pro at it in no time! My foster humans have a two and a half year old German Shepherd. She is naturally an intense dog and we are learning how to get along with each other and not play as rough as we want to. I dont currently live with any kids or cats, and I dont remember if I used to hang out with any before I went to doggy jail. My ideal family is humans who are motivated to teach me tricks and guide me to work on new skills. My perfect family would be an active family that helps me burn my energy both physically and mentally. It would be great if my new family has a 6-foot fence. Im a bit of an escape artist and will jump small gates, I think this is because I dont like to be by myself. As I learn more and get more confident it is pawsible this urge will go away. Each day I am learning what is good behavior and what is bad behavior I just need someone willing to teach me. So, as you can see, Im a good catch! With proper management, training and socialization you can help me to achieve the skills I need. Could this be you?
