Chimera / Lilly Bug's Story

General Notes | After being hit by a car and dumped at a rural shelter, Lilly Bug has truly seen the worst of humanity. But, that hasn't stopped or slowed down her loving spirit! Lilly Bug is a true bundle of joy who lives life with love, and she has a knack for making everything feel a little brighter. She is smart, social, and eager to be involved in whatever you are doing—from morning coffee routines to weekend adventures. If you're looking for a devoted, wiggly-tailed best friend who will love you with her whole heart, Lilly Bug is ready to flutter right into your life and stay there forever. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days.

Personality | Lilly Bug is recovering from her surgery and her foster describes her as "chill and loving and a good girl. She looks for attention by bumping her head into you or laying next to you and pawing. She will bark at things, but is not overly reactive to every sound." Lilly Bug is not hypoallergenic - she is a beautiful furry, fluffy Golden/Poodle mix.

Story | Lilly Bug was surrendered to an emergency clinic after being hit by a car. She needed a Femoral Head Ostecomy (FHO) surgery. The surgery was performed mid-January 2026 and was successful. Lilly Bug requires a home that doesn't have many stairs and an adopter who is committed to regular grooming to maintain her coat.

Other Dogs | Lilly Bug has lived with other dogs.

Cats | Lilly Bug has not lived with cats, but likely with good introduction she could be compatible with cats.

Children | Unsure but should be fine with respectful children. Current foster does not have kids.

Training | Lilly Bug is working on training, she is potty trained.

Leash | Lilly Bug has been doing gentle rehabilitive walks in her recovery.

Activity Level | Lilly Bug is recovering from FHO surgery and getting stronger every day. She may benefit from physical therapy if needed in the future. Lilly Bug is low-moderate energy.

Health Notes | Lilly Bug recently had FHO surgery after being hit by a car. She can do some stairs, but is not suitable for a home with many stairs and steps or jumping. Dogs who have had FHO surgery may benefit from phycial therapy to maintain optimal physical function and it's important the dog maintain a healthy (lower) weight to reduce the load on the new joint. Lilly Bug is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm negative.

Thank you! |

Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).

Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file.

Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.

We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
