Chilly's Story

Meet Chilly, a six-year-old, 8-pound Chihuahua mix who is discovering that life can be pretty good when you have people who understand you!

Chilly arrived at Home Fur Good as a very frightened little guy. He was e-listed for behavior at county, and to make matters worse, he was dealing with kennel cough and a painful eye ulcer. Feeling sick and scared was certainly not the best introduction to shelter life. Thankfully, Chilly is feeling SO much better now! His eye has been treated, he finished his antibiotics, had a dental, and is ready to focus on the important things, learning to trust and enjoying life.

Chilly is still a sensitive little guy and can be nippy when he feels uncomfortable, particularly when someone tries to put something over his head or around his neck. He does best with women and would not be a good match for a home with small children. But once Chilly feels safe with you, you get to see his wonderful side. He is a very loving little companion who enjoys being close to his people. He’s also perfectly happy being carried, so yes, there may be a purse-dog future in his plans!

Chilly has already shown that he can enjoy the company of other small dogs and has done perfectly hanging out with them. A calm canine companion may be a wonderful addition to his new home.

Chilly isn’t looking for someone to change him overnight. He needs a patient person who will respect his boundaries, give him time to build trust, and celebrate his progress. In return, this little guy has plenty of love to give. Beneath Chilly’s spicy exterior is a sweet dog who is learning that he is safe—and that being loved feels pretty wonderful.

Chilly’s adoption fee is $250 and includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital.

Ready to meet this little survivor? Please call 602-971-1334 to schedule an appointment. You can also visit Home Fur Good Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for walk-ins.
