Chief's Story

Featured Hound:

Chief is a lucky 9 y/o boy. He must have an angel looking out for him! Chief was found stray and taken to a shelter in Flower Mount where a volunteer saw him and contacted HBHR that there was a beautiful boy needing rescue.

Chief was very emaciated and had a poor appetite when he arrived. He continued to lose weight, and we feared he was losing a battle with cancer. All his labs were perfect as were x-rays and ultrasounds. After trying a zillion different things to get his appetite going, a volunteer sent canned puppy food with an appetite stimulant. That turned the trick! Chief is now scarfing down his kibbe with just a spoonful of topper like everyone else!

Chief is a sweet old boy who loves attention and squeaky balls! His house manners are perfect. He has his quirky side so you may find him in the fire pit chewing on a piece of burnt wood! He tolerates the other dogs but would be happy in a home as a one nod only. He does not like to be touched on the back of his neck and may snap. He would be best with older kids in the home. Please find a place in your heart and home for this wonderful hound dog!
