Chia Seeds's Story

Meet Chia Seeds, a six and a half year old German Shepherd mix weighing 65 pounds.

Chia Seeds is an absolute delight with the sweetest personality and the most adorable fox-like face. Her beautiful sugar muzzle only adds to her charm, giving her a distinguished look that perfectly matches her gentle spirit.

Chia Seeds was found abandoned near an elk feeding station, far from where anyone would expect a dog to end up on her own. She has a microchip, and although we reached out to the listed owners—and even confirmed through a relative that we had the correct contact information—we never received a response. Now this deserving girl is ready to leave her past behind and find a family that will love her for the rest of her life.

Her finders had wonderful things to say about her. They reported that Chia Seeds peacefully coexisted with their outdoor chickens and cats, never bothering them. They even watched her on security cameras calmly walking past the animals without issue. While every new home and animal introduction should be done slowly and thoughtfully, this speaks to her kind and respectful nature.

As a German Shepherd, Chia Seeds is part of a breed known for its intelligence, loyalty, and eagerness to bond with its family. German Shepherds thrive when they are included in daily life and enjoy learning through positive, reward-based training. They are happiest when they have regular exercise, mental enrichment, and plenty of time with their people, making them devoted companions for families who are ready to include them in their adventures.

Chia Seeds is a sweet, affectionate girl who deserves a second chance with a family that will never leave her behind. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart, a beautiful fox-like face, and so much love to give, Chia Seeds is ready to become your new best friend.

This pet is available for adoption on 7/28/2026 3:00 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
