Chi Chi Chalupa's Story

Tiny legs, big zoomies, and an even bigger heart—Chi Chi is ready to steal your lap and your life.

Meet Chi Chi Chalupa, known simply as Chi Chi to her friends. This adorable 12-week-old terrier mix is already turning heads everywhere she goes. At just 9 pounds now, she’s expected to grow into a perfect medium-sized companion in the 25–30 pound range. She has that classic terrier coat with soft hair in beautiful shades of blonde, brown, and black. Her coat will require regular grooming to keep her looking her best, but trust me, she is worth every brush stroke. People constantly stop to compliment her on how cute she is and her happy personality seals the deal every time.

Chi Chi is pure puppy joy wrapped up in a wiggly little body. She is incredibly friendly, playful, and full of energy. Zoomies are absolutely part of her daily routine, and she would love a yard or space where she can run until her little legs are tired. She currently adores playing with her 72-pound German Shepherd “nanny,” and she holds her own just fine. She loves chew bones and toys, and if you leave your shoes unattended, she’ll consider them a bonus toy as well. She is equally interested in people and dogs, which makes her wonderfully balanced. She’s just as happy curling up in your lap for cuddles as she is wrestling with a canine buddy in the yard.

She loves adults and kids alike and greets new people with a wagging tail and bright eyes. She enjoys playing with dogs both large and small. Her behavior around cats is currently unknown. There are no signs of trauma or abuse in her past. She is simply a confident, happy little puppy ready to take on the world.

Chi Chi is doing beautifully with her training for such a young pup. She does well in her crate. She may protest with a little bark when she first goes in, but she settles down quickly. She is almost housebroken and has made wonderful progress. When you open the door, she runs outside to go potty like a champ. She still has an accident or two each day, but they are small and easy to clean up, and with consistency she will have it mastered in no time. She is fairly quiet overall and only really barks during playtime or briefly when first crated.

Like most puppies her age, Chi Chi is in the puppy biting stage. Her bites are mostly gentle and playful, though she may occasionally surprise you with a tiny ankle nibble as she learns her manners. The good news is she is very food motivated and eats all three of her daily meals enthusiastically. That love of food will make her easy and fun to train. She already listens well and comes running when called, which is a fantastic foundation to build on.

She is a wonderful little companion in everyday life. She rides beautifully in the car and will simply lay down and nap in the passenger seat. At night, she’ll happily curl up next to you, though she will still need a middle-of-the-night potty break until she gets a bit older. During the day, she’ll snooze at your feet while you work at the computer or stretch out in your lap while you watch TV. She absolutely loves being picked up and carried around and will happily melt into your arms.

Health-wise, Chi Chi is thriving. She is healthy, at her ideal weight, microchipped, current on vaccines, and up to date on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. She will need to be spayed in about a month.

Chi Chi would do best in a home where she can run and play until she wears herself out. She would thrive with another playful dog who enjoys an active buddy, or as an only dog with someone committed to giving her plenty of exercise and engagement. If you’re looking for a happy, affectionate, energetic little terrier who will make you laugh daily and then curl up to snuggle at the end of the day, Chi Chi just might be your perfect match.

An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms

Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.

Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org

Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions.
