Cheyenne's Story

Cheyenne came into a shelter as a ‘stray’ and was quickly named Cheyenne due to her shy nature. Cheyenne was at the shelter for six months and was not ‘selling’ herself well at the shelter. The rescue was contacted in November 2021 due to Cheyenne overstaying her welcome at that shelter. Cheyenne has been let down multiple times by people, which is shocking to us at the rescue as she is one of the best dogs to come through our door. Cheyenne is a 6 year old GSD. She is a true GSD in her personality and dog traits and knowing the breed is a must when it comes to adopting Cheyenne. Cheyenne is a Velcro dog and prefers to be with her people. Cheyenne is very protective of her person and her property, which is a desired trait among GSD owners. Cheyenne is house trained and loves to go in the car for rides. Cheyenne is UTD on shots and is spayed. Cheyenne does need work with leash training as she will pull at times to check out deer and turkey. Cheyenne does well with other dogs and needs proper introduction with cats, but does well with them. Cheyenne will need to be supervised around livestock. Cheyenne currently lives with a toddler and does well with children but would prefer to live in a home with older children. Cheyenne would also benefit from a fenced yard and walks to keep down beginning stages of arthritis. Cheyenne is a very shy dog and would like a quieter home and it is important to know that it will take Cheyenne time to assimilate into a family and being patient with her is very imperative. Cheyenne is a wonderful dog and we at the rescue can’t say enough good things about her.
