Chewy's Story
Chewy is a sweet 6-year-old boy who was surrendered when his owner became very ill and could no longer care for him. He grew up as the only dog, so he would do perfectly well in a home without other dogs — though he’s gotten along fine with mine. He’s a true lap dog who wants nothing more than a full-time lap and someone to love.
Chewy adores his toys, especially interactive ones, and has a playful, affectionate personality. When he arrived, he was over 30 lbs and very overweight. With a strict diet, he’s already lost about 7 lbs and has just a few more to go. He eats only fresh food — no kibble or canned — so his new family must be committed to feeding him a healthy, fresh diet and providing the care he deserves.
Chewy lived most of his life in an apartment and was paper-trained. I’ve worked hard to fully housebreak him and help him learn that going outside is safe and fun. He hasn’t had a single accident in my home, but I do take him out every couple of hours and go with him. He also now uses the doggy door confidently. For his safety, a secure fenced yard is a must.
He’s neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. I will be very careful in choosing his forever home — one that will give him stability, love, and a peaceful environment. A home visit, vet reference, and a promise to stay in touch will be required.
I’ve grown very attached to this little guy and would happily keep him, but I believe he’ll thrive in a quieter home without 20 other dogs competing for attention. I’m not sure how he does with children, but I don’t think he’d enjoy a busy or high-energy household.
His adoption fee is $400. Please take the time to think carefully before applying — Chewy deserves nothing less than a lifelong, loving home.
