Chewy's Story

Meet Chewy!

Chewy is one of 40 incredibly lucky pups that just arrived from one of our trusted shelter partners in California's Central Valley. We're so excited to welcome this sweet group to the Pacific Northwest as they begin their next chapter filled with safety, comfort, and love. 31 of the dogs in this new group are Chihuahuas, Chihuahua mixes, and other small-breed cuties that were saved from an unfortunate hoarding situation where there was a total of 67 dogs. We'll be sharing more updates, photos, and personality details as we get to know each of them better now that they're in our custody. In the meantime, our foster and adopter outreach has officially begun, and we're hoping that these little ones will find their homes and families quickly!

If you're hoping to meet one of these adorable pups, we encourage you to submit an adoption application through our website today to not miss out!

Will you be this pup's lucky new hero?

PupFax: Chewy
Adoption Status: Cleared and Ready!
Medical Status: Cleared
Location: Bend, OR/Central Oregon
Rescue Intake Type: Rescue/Shelter - Domestic

At-a-Glance Stats -

Age: 1 year (approximate)

Breed: Chihuahua Mix

Size: Small

Weight: 12.2 pounds (Approx. last weigh-in)

Sex: Male

Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Vaccinations: Up to date (age appropriate core vaccinations)

Microchipped: Yes

Personality & Temperament:

Energy level:

Home & Lifestyle Fit -

People: Good

Dogs: Good

Cats: Unknown at this time

Activity Level:

Ideal Home:

Training & Manners -

House/Potty Trained:

Crate Trained:

Leash Skills:

Commands Known:

Food/Treat Motivation:

Health Notes -

Overall Health:

Known Medical Needs:

(All known medical and behavioral information is disclosed prior to adoption.)

What this pup Is looking For:

What We Know & Why We Love Them (foster/volunteer/staff feedback):

Foster Update 3/18/26:

Chew is the best! He's getting potty training down- feeling much more confident outside on walks. Still on leash at all times, even in the backyard as he is spooked pretty easily. He's been so good with other people, still shy and likes slow intros with humans and other dogs. Very affectionate, he's absolutely glued to our laps!
