Chewie's Story
Hi everyone, my name is Chewie! I am a big beautiful 5-year-old brown purebred Newfoundland looking for my furever home. I’ve been living with my foster mom and furry friends for the last few months, and while I love my doggy friends, I’m always near my human in case she needs my help, or just needs a good snuggle.

I’m a calm and patient boy and don’t mind waiting for the “okay” command before I eat my meal or get out of the car (which by the way, mealtime and car rides are two of my favorite activities!). I have a great recall, although I'm not usually far enough away to use this command. I know sit, down, wait, and stay too.

When we go out, I love meeting new people (and they love meeting me!) and I get so excited when I see someone who might pet me. I’m working on meeting people more calmly and not pulling on the leash, but life as a Newfie is exciting!

My human has been helping me with an unusual ear infection. It’s being controlled and I’m feeling much better, but I will likely need medication for life to manage it. I’ve gotten used to the ear drops and lay down and let my human put the drops in. Then I get a treat, which makes it all worth it!

I am such a good boy and am ready to give all my love to my new family.

Love and smooches,
Chewie

Our adoption fee is $350.00 and we have a formal adoption agreement that will require signatures.
A fenced yard with a minimum height of 4-feet is required for adoption.
We cover Western MO., Kansas, Western IA., Nebraska, Northeastern OK and Northeastern AR. We only adopt out in our covered areas.
To request an application or contact us with any questions please use the contact link at the top of the page.
To see more Newfoundland rescues or to learn more about our rescue program see our clubs website. www.hanc.net
To learn more about the Newfoundland breed, see the Newfoundland Club of America's website. www.ncanewfs.org
