Chevy's Story
Meet Chevy- A Survivor Who’s Learning to Trust Again

Chevy is a 5-year-old mixed breed who has spent far more of her life in a shelter than in a home. Her journey hasn’t been easy, and because of that, her needs are specific. But when we say Chevy is worth getting to know, we truly mean it, she is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of dog for the right person.

Chevy came to us nearly three years ago, and at that time, her future was uncertain. Fear shaped much of how she experienced the world, and trusting humans did not come easily to her. But with time, patience, and consistency, Chevy began to show us who she really is beneath that fear.

We made her a promise, that we would give her more than just a life in a kennel. We moved slowly at her pace, helped her build safe relationships with humans, and allowed her to learn that the world doesn’t have to be so scary. Today, Chevy is board-and-trained and ready to take the next step toward finding her forever home.

Chevy will need a very special adopter, someone who understands fear-based aggression, respects her boundaries, and is fully committed to never giving up on her. She needs a confident, steady human who can show her that she is safe, protected, and finally home.

Despite her challenges, Chevy is affectionate, goofy, and deeply loving once she trusts you. She may be unsure of humans at first, but if you’re willing to put in the time and patience, Chevy will reward you with a bond unlike any other, one built on trust, resilience, and quiet devotion.

Chevy’s Ideal Home:

-Dog-savvy adult home (or older couple)
-No other pets
-Calm, structured environment
- Be mindful of toys and chews for guarding
-Patience, understanding, and unconditional love

Chevy isn’t looking for just any home, she’s looking for her person. The one who sees past the fear, believes in her, and gives her the chance she’s been waiting for.

To be considered must apply at:
buddyandfriendsma.org/adopt
