An update from Cherry’s foster mom:
Cherry has been with us for almost two weeks and he continues to impress with each passing day. When we met him he was so shy. But don't be fooled! While most of the time he's a cool cucumber, he also has a playful, joyous spirit just waiting to be shared with a special someone(s) in his forever home.
In short, he's surprisingly well-balanced for a former mill dog.
Things to know:
1. He's not afraid to meet other dogs and is starting to approach friendly people as well, as we saw at the dog park today.
2. He is really starting to understand the joys of a soft bed, toys and balls, treats, and human affection. And he's so cute. His face reminds me of a snowy owl.
3. Just yesterday he went (on his own) into his open crate to rest. He's in there taking a nap this afternoon again. When we first got him he didn't like the crate but he gets it now!
4. He eats well, is good in the car, loves to be outside and walks perfectly on a leash. He sleeps in his crate at night and we still have not heard a peep out of him. (Maybe a little grunting when running and playing!)
5. We continue to work on potty training and we now understand him well enough that he wears a belly band inside maybe 20% of the time. Next week we will try going commando! This proud foster Mom is confident that while Cherry isn't 100% in that department, he will master the duty in time. And this time of year makes it much easier to potty train.
****If you're looking for a small but sturdy, smart and loving, non- shedding pup, Cherry's the one for you. He's about 3 years old so he's just starting to hit his stride. Perfect age to adopt. Fostered in Waukesha.

To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION.
Adopters must be 24 years of age. We can not adopt to families with children under the age of six. We also only adopt in WI, IL, and parts of MN. Most of our dogs are strays, so the breed is our best guess.
