Cheeto (Courtesy Post)'s Story
Cheeto is a large red heeler mix. He came from Texas where he was a stray. He's very loving and a big goofball. His favorite toy is his big red Jolly Ball that has a rope through it. He loves to cuddle on the couch and watch movies, hiking, and the beach - although he does not swim. He likes to chase his toy up and down the edge of the water. He listens well at home and will ask to be let on the furniture in new spaces. He's crate trained and sometimes will bark when I leave but does not continue for long.

Cheeto does come with some challenges. He doesn't have good voice recall and is very dog reactive (dog parks are a no-go.) He has displayed protective behavior while on a lead - being approached by unknown people while on a lead is not a good thing for him. He's a very good boy but needs a lot of attention and caution around other dogs and sometimes new people. But the people he loves, he loves dearly. He would be best in a home with no kids or cats. It kills me to let him go; he's been my buddy for five years now. But we feel this is the right choice for him and for us as we begin to blend our lives together.

I would love for him to stay on island and be able to see him sometimes but understand if that isn't possible.

If you would like to know more about this darling boy and get connected with people for a meet and greet, please reach out to APS-FH at shelter@apsfh.com for more information or call 360-378-2158.
