Cheese's Story

Hi, I’m Cheese — and I might just be the most underrated gem you’ll ever meet.

I’ve been part of The Pittie Project PNW longer than most, and the team still isn’t sure why I’m waiting — because once you meet me, I tend to make an impression.

I’m about 2 years old and currently living in foster with the rescue’s head trainer, where I’ve spent the last couple of months building confidence, learning new skills, and absolutely thriving. I’m goofy, smart, affectionate, and I love to work and train. I’m fully crate trained, house trained, calm in the house, playful in the yard, and even treadmill trained for those rainy PNW days.

I’m also always up for a good time. Whether it’s running, hiking, or heading out on an adventure, I’d make an amazing active partner for someone who wants a dog to do life with. I know how to settle, but I’m more than happy to lace up and go when it’s time.

I recently had a full vet visit with everything updated and did amazing — so amazing, in fact, that even the vet commented on how confident, composed, and well-adjusted I was… and couldn’t believe I’m still available. That confidence didn’t happen overnight, and it’s been incredible to see just how far I’ve come.

I’ve also been a superstar in playgroups and have had multiple meet-and-greets where I did great every time. I truly enjoy other dogs and do best with well-matched, appropriate canine friends. Of course, my rescue has high standards when it comes to dog-to-dog pairings — we want everyone set up for long-term success.

I can be a little reserved at first, especially with new people or fast movements, but if you give me a little space and a calm introduction, I warm up quickly. Once I trust you, I’m all in — loyal, loving, and very much your ride-or-die girl.

A few things to know about me:

🐾 I do great with other dogs and really shine with confident, social pups I can learn from

🐾 I could also succeed as an only dog if my person is committed to giving me the structure, activity, and training I love

🐾 Training is my happy place — I thrive on it and genuinely enjoy working with my person

🐾 I have the kind of smile that lights up a room and a personality that sneaks up on you in the best way

The right home for me will understand that trust is built, not rushed. If you respect my space, give me a little time, and provide clear guidance and consistency, I’ll give you everything I have. I’m not just looking for a home — I’m looking for my person.

Think we might be a match? Head on over to www.thepittieprojectpnw.org/apply for all details on how to adopt me!
