Cheese's Story
Meet Cheese 🧀

Cheese is an approximately one year old 15 pound Chihuahua mix with a huge personality packed into a tiny body.

He is house trained and happily uses a doggie door. He loves walks, outings to the park, and being part of everyday life. He does not enjoy being crated, but he does just fine having free roam of the house when left alone.

More than anything, Cheese loves his person. He bonds deeply and will be incredibly loyal. Because of that, he can be a bit jealous and protective, and tends to choose a favorite who he keeps a close eye on and protect.

He is happiest in a calm, predictable home and may do best with someone familiar with Chihuahuas and their behavioral needs.

He is playful, energetic, and full of spunk. He loves to snuggle and will happily burrow under the covers to be close to his person at night.

Like many small, smart dogs, Cheese can get overstimulated when there is a lot going on. When that happens, he may bark or get a little mouthy such as grabbing at pant legs or socks and can be a bit nippy. With structure and continued guidance, he is still young and very capable of learning better coping skills.

His foster family absolutely adores him and wants to make sure his next home is the right fit for his personality and needs.

In the right environment, Cheese will be an incredibly devoted and fun companion.

Cheese would do best in a home with:
- No cats as he tends to chase them
- No children due to overstimulation
- Another confident, stable dog who will not let him run the show and can help keep him balanced

MORE INFO:
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, or scheduled to be if they arrived in our care too young. Each dog has been seen by our veterinarian and treated for likely the following (all various): Age appropriate vaccines, overall health exam and other alignments as they come up. All dogs are dewormed, given core vaccines (Bordetella, DHPP (3 of them if a puppy) and Rabies as well as all are microchipped and on a monthly preventative for flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

All of our animals are placed into foster homes so they thrive and the transition is easier.

If interested in learning more or meeting this pup, please fill out our adoption application.
The application can be found here:
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/JHRA/Dog

Journey Home Rescue Alliance | Apply for Adoption
