Cheech's Story
Cheech, the life of the party!
He is a typical energetic one-year-old dog. This little guy thrives in a lively environment and would love a home where he can be part of all the action. He is good with dogs, cats and humans of all ages.
Cheech did not have much experience with other dogs, but since being in his foster home, he has met several and is happy to hang out with them and is even leaning to play. Even the resident cat isn’t an issue for Cheech. He is a pretty easy-going dog. Throw a toy for him, and you’ve got a friend for life! Sit down, and you’ve got a lap partner who suddenly needs a nap.
Cheech was not house-trained when he first arrived in his foster home. His foster family, with the help of the resident dogs, are working hard on that. Being the smart boy that he is, he is catching on quickly and doing VERY well. So, with continued work and routine in that department, he will be 100% in no time. He enjoys a crate at nighttime but is also happy to sleep cuddled up next to someone under the blankets.
Does he bark? – Yes, and he can be LOUD - like an alarm system. He is easily settled, but he does let everyone know something is happening. His foster home believes that alarm barking is all part of him settling in and getting used to the noises in a new environment, as it has gotten less frequent. Like most Chi’s, he warms to females quicker but will dive bomb his foster dad every chance he gets when he sits for kisses and pets - even though he barked and grumbled at him while standing two seconds prior. Typical Chi!
Cheech would LOVE a home with a family that is active, outgoing and willing to continue to work on his training. He is a little jumping bean and loves to play fetch, so he might excel in some agility-type classes where he could put his skills to the test! Are you the right family for Cheech!
