Cheddar's Story
Name: Cheddar
Gender: Male
Breed: Maltese Terrier Mix
Color: White
Approx Age: 1 year old
Approx Weight: 11 lbs
Adoption fee: $550

Looking for a sweetheart? Meet Cheddar, who is Chowder’s brother! Hard to tell one from the other? Cheddar has a little bobbed tail and is a slightly shorter version of Chowder!

Cheddar may have had a rough start in life—he and his siblings were sadly left behind when their owners moved—but he hasn’t let that dim his happy spirit. This sweet boy loves people and enjoys playing with other dogs. He came into the rescue with his brother, Chowder.

Cheddar loves to play with toys. He’s fond of chasing a thrown toy but isn’t sure what to do once he’s caught it.

He’s also very affectionate. Not only does he like snuggles, his foster parents say he’s an intercontinental ballistic missile of love. He will jump and launch himself right into your arms-and heart.

He’s still learning the finer points of “house living,” but his foster dad is helping him with house training and leash manners. Cheddar is a smart pup, eager to please, and making progress every day.

He’s also still a bit clingy. He follows his foster parents around fairly closely so you have to make sure not to trip on him. After already being left behind in a big way by his original people, he wants to be quite sure he sticks close by!

Cheddar is ready to find a loving family who will cheer him on and enjoy the wonderful companion he’s becoming. “ Everything is better with Cheddar!”

Adoption Information

Please note: Because of their size, our dogs are not suitable for homes with children under 5.

We do not have a physical facility — all of our dogs live in loving foster homes.

Lil’ Paws is a small, all-volunteer organization. To best use our limited time and resources, we are only able to correspond with individuals who have submitted an adoption application.

If you live in the immediate Austin area and are interested in adopting from Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and Other Petite Paws, please visit http://www.lilpaws.org This is the first step in our process. Unfortunately, we are unable to adopt outside the Austin area.

Our local adoption requirement is due to the thoroughness of our process, which includes home visits and a trial adoption period to ensure the dog has adjusted well. With our small team of volunteers, it is not possible to conduct these steps outside our area. Even if you are willing to travel, we must keep our efforts local to maintain the integrity of our process.

If you would like to visit with our dogs and their fosters, Meet and Greet Events are held on the first Saturday of each month at the Pet Supplies Plus in Round Rock from noon to 2 p.m.
Pet Supplies Plus
17420 Ranch to Market Rd 620 #150
Round Rock, TX 78681

Our mission is to place our dogs in safe, stable, and loving homes within the Austin area. Thank you for understanding and for supporting rescue!
_______________________________________
Supporting Lil’ Paws

Lil’ Paws Maltese Rescue and Other Petite Paws relies on donations to provide the medical care our dogs need before adoption. Every pup receives essential vetting such as spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and dental care — and many require additional or even major medical treatments.

Your donations make this possible.
