Meet Checkers! <br/><br/>Checkers is an adorable black-and-white puppy with a big personality packed into a tiny body! At about 2 months old, this handsome boy is already showing off his curious, adventurous spirit. He loves to explore and often enjoys doing his own thing—then popping back in for some playful puppy fun.<br/><br/>Checkers came to us with 10 of his siblings, so he’s used to a lively environment. Our best guess is that he’s a Pitty/Lab mix, though breed can’t be guaranteed. Based on his size now, we expect him to grow to be around 30 lbs or possibly bigger.<br/><br/>What makes Checkers special:<br/><br/>Curious and adventurous<br/><br/>Independent but still playful<br/><br/>All the charm and energy of a growing puppy<br/><br/>As with any young pup, Checkers will need puppy obedience training and housebreaking to help him grow into a well-mannered adult. He would also benefit from working on his food skills—he tends to eat a bit fast, and starting good habits now will help prevent issues later on.<br/><br/>Because he’s still learning and growing, supervision is recommended with young children and cats.<br/><br/>Checkers is looking for a family ready to guide him with patience, training, and love. If you’re excited to help a smart, adventurous puppy blossom into an amazing companion, Checkers may be the perfect fit for you! If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm. My adoption fee is $250.00
