CHARLOTTE--ADOPTION PENDING 's Story

Weight: around 4 and a bit lbs
Location: Mississauga Ontario
Age: DOB 11/29/2020

Adoption : $675

PLEASE READ CHARLOTTES PROFILE CAREFULLY PRIOR TO FILLING IN AN ADOOPTION APPLICATION

Charlotte

Charlotte is the epitome of a sweet and sassy chihuahua and because of this, previous chihuahua experience is required. She is small and delicate but full of personality and she will follow her human around EVERYWHERE all day long. She needs a quiet house with no kids and all people in the house need to be chihuahua savvy. She is a trip hazard, she’s always at your feet, she’s your shadow, your stage 5 clinger and built in bestie. From what we have seen so far, she prefers females over males in the household.

She is a very shy girl at first, but given kindness and patience she comes out of her shell.

Her sassiness manifests itself in growling and nipping when she is touched in areas she doesn’t like to be touched such as her legs, paws and tail area. One small misplaced hand while petting her could result in a growl and showing teeth - sometimes she warns you but sometimes there’s no warning and your fingers get nipped. We hope with patience, care and training she can overcome this unwanted behavior. With visitors she is very standoff-ish and shy. She should be monitored during introductions and they should be slow and calm.

Despite this, when she’s ready for attention she does love to be pet. She snuggles and gives kisses on her terms and walks away when she’s gotten enough. She’s crate training, can sleep in her own bed or her humans bed.

She is a barker and barks when she hears a strange noise and when people come in the door. She then continues to bark at the new comers until she’s properly introduced to them. She has separation anxiety that we are working on and barks and howls when left alone. She feels more calm when she’s left with her foster brothers. She’d be best living in a home with no shared walls, a condo unit is not a good fit. And she’d thrive with a person who works from home most days of the week or who’s retired. She’d love to be with you all day every day and join you on outings.

She’d be fine being the only dog in the household, but she’d also be okay with another small dog that matches her energy level, which is low to medium. She’s still young and likes to play with her foster brother.

She comes with a serious but treatable (not curable) life long medical condition, that being a grade 2-3 heart murmur. This is a common condition for chihuahuas. She does not need daily medication yet and she is not feeling the effects of the disease yet, however she will need consistent monitoring and in the near future she will need an echocardiogram and daily medication taken for the rest of her life. This condition comes with additional, life long daily financial commitment.
